ACTION ALERT

The Forest Resources Association has issued a call to action urging Congress to quickly pass the Save Our Small and Seasonal Business Act of 2007 (H.R. 1843 and S. 988). This legislation will extend the H-2B Seasonal Migrant Worker Program, which is badly needed to conduct planting, thinning and harvesting activities.

On October 1, the Federal government announced that the current H-2B visa cap had been filled and no more visas will be available for seasonal workers whose jobs begin in November, December or later. As we enter our planting season, this H-2B seasonal worker cap will result in an unprecedented shortage of legal workers to reforest our timberlands.

ACTION REQUESTED:

Please contact your U.S. Representative and Senators Martinez and Nelson ask them to support the Save Our Small and Seasonal Businesses Act of 2007 (H.R. 1843 and S. 988). Please click here for a sample e-mail letter and here for additional background information on the H-2B Worker Program.
